City, state, or country: choosing claim granularity
Granularity decides how many claims exist and what each one is worth. Here is how to pick without guessing.
Granularity is the single biggest lever in a regional exclusivity drop. Set it too fine and claims feel cheap. Set it too coarse and almost nobody can buy.
Match granularity to price
- Under $200: city-level. You need volume and a map that visibly fills.
- $200 to $2,000: state or province. Scarce enough to justify a premium, common enough to sell.
- Above $2,000: country. Treat each claim as a small distribution agreement.
Watch the map, then adjust
If your top ten cities sell out in a week, you priced too low or went too fine. If nothing moves in a month, the region is too large for your audience density.
Granularity is not permanent. Run the next drop one level up or down and compare claim velocity.
